Awareness / prompting – Safe handling of Medication

Level 1 medication training is an awareness course for care and support workers that focuses on the fundamental principles of medication handling, rather than administration itself. It covers topics such as the legal framework, different types of medications, safe storage and disposal, and understanding a person’s role in handling medication. This foundational training helps staff identify when a resident or client needs medication assistance but does not qualify them to administer medication.
